Rambling Thoughts No. 1 - Traffic

Remember this is just rambling thought.
Traffic in India especially in Jaipur:
On Indian road, MIGHT is right. When will it improve??? I think the main reason being that we (by we, I mean Indian drivers) are not fully aware of the Traffic rules and regulations and also that we don't really care about other people. When will we learn that the main road and straight roads has priority over the small lanes? We just shoot out from a side road to a main road without bothering to look.
Roundabouts and traffic lights: We really don't understand that you need to give way to the vehicles on your right. Sometimes I am forced to stop at a roundabout because some cars or bikes were coming too fast from the left.
On the most part, we do understand about the traffic light, but there are still some people who really are in a hurry and can't wait for the light to turn green. And well, if the clock countdown reach 4 seconds, you can start going!! Like the 4 seconds is really going to help you get to your destination faster!

The policemen don't seem to be bothered by anything. They do have their drive sometimes, but only for show, in my opinion. Two wheelers without helmet, no seat belt, etc. There are discriminations here as well. If you are a politician or know a politician, or high ranking government officer, then the rules don't apply. And another thing: I don't think the policemen themselves knows and underdstand the traffic rules, at least not all of them.

Parking: We absolutely have no manners when it comes to parking, especially in a place where parking spot is limited. You will see some cars are parked taking two parking areas, just right in the middle.
What about when you are just standing there trying to get the spot that has just been vacated- giving way for the car to move out and wham! another car goes round behind you and take that spot, eventhough you indicated that you are intending to park there.

Highways and Roads with lanes:
I do realise that it is still a bit difficult inside a city area to really follow the lane rules as there are lots of bikes and scooters zig zag-ging. But, there are still some cars who prefer to take two lanes, which I personally think is very selfish of them.
Trucks and buses are still going on the fast lane, which is not allowed in most countries.

Can we get past the nightmare of driving in Indian roads and be civilised to other drivers by being considerate?
